free Free Westinghouse Type E
It's raining (marginally working) machines! Someone dropped this dark gold beauty and his cabinet off at the shop and since we don't take cabinet machines and it only grudgingly turned over, so the boss said I could have it for free. I plugged in both plugs and they both take power. The light works and the motor doth protest mightily. I've never seen this machine before. The bed space is huge! It's not belt driven, it has a pin sticking out of the motor that turns the flywheel, has a vertical bobbin and it looks like I have to take off the tension assembly to get to the headplate innards. It's in pristine exterior shape and came with the cabinet and knee control but my guess is it's super gummy on the inside. I know nothing about motors so that'll be an experience.
The only markings are under the bed where it says "Type E". Anyone know of a good starting place for getting him back to rights? Also, what feet should I use? There's a weird large screw at the bottom of the presser foot bar that screws vertically up and down the shaft. You can see it fairly clearly in the third photo. It did not come with a foot. Thanks in advance!
