My favorite boys quilt is just cutting up old blue jeans into squares (5 or 6") Then add in some cotton fabric a theme that interest the young man - like sports, Nascar, tools, camo, etc. I just sew random squares together, it is also an easy quilt to just tie off - rather than quit the top.
