Any Plaid fabric ( or a bunch of Plaids ) and solid colors to match in big Blocks ( 12 inch blocks + Sashing) would be good for a boys quilt... could be quilted in Stripes, on the Diagonal, quilted in the Squares with Quilting every 2 inches in. or in Zig Zag pattern, or could be quilted in Shapes like Trucks, Blocks, Fish, Dogs etc... If He likes Camo Then you could Quilt it with Cabins, deer, bears, Fish, Moose, canoes, jeeps etc... I think the all over patterns with curves are more feminine.... of course if the boy is in to Sports then you could quilt in Shapes like basket balls, Baseballs, Footballs , Goal Posts, soccer or Volley balls... tennis Shoes ( like Converse etc ) use your imagination to make the Quilting bigger and not so tiny.... I saw a quilt that was about horses-the quilting was done so you could see horses, saddles, horse shoe shapes, Stirrup Shapes and The Lasso ... all around and all over the Quilt.... quilting doesn't always have to be straight lines or girly curves....
