I made quilts for my nephews ever since they were 3 and 9 . After the first which I designed they have always handed me designs of their own the 3 year old even managed funny shaped squares with shapes in side which were dinosaurs. Ask him to design his own. The eldest had a very simple squares pattern but he wanted very specific colours to go with his room colours.
