Default Farmers wife sampler done in brights and darks quilted by Feline Fanatic

When I first unwrapped this quilt it took my breath away. This is Meg's 2nd FWS quilt. She pieced them both at the same time and sent them to me to quilt. They are so different and I took two completely different paths. The first, more traditional one is pictured here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...c-t212181.html

This one would not show quilting much. The focus fabric (a Thomas Kinkead print) was very busy and dark as was the fern print used in the border and sashing. The interspersed solids would show but the pieces were so tiny I felt an overall design in each block would fit the bill best.

The two main fabrics had a very botanical feel to them so ferns kept coming to me. I modified a design by Bethanne Nemish, a fiddlehead fern. I quilted a fiddlehead fern in every block, then did continuous fern in the border with a fiddlehead in each corner and a simple, tiny leaf and vine in the 1" sashing.

Meg supplied the batting and I used Isacord on top in a dark grayish green color and a cream bottom line in the bobbin. No back shot as nothing really showed up. She used the Thomas Kinkead print on the back, so very busy.
