I LOATHE basting ... but the boards did make it a lot easier.

A tip for you - if you decide to use the boards. Use water soluble thread to baste. You don't have to take it out at all, can quilt over it with no problem. If one of the threads snags on your foot - no problem, just snip it and leave it there.

And another tip - if catching the basting thread on the FMQ foot, baste from the back of the quilt. The stitches are much smaller on the back side (which will now be the front side.

But I loathe basting so much ... I bought a long arm!
