I would go with a medium blue or darker blue. I made one of these for each of my grandsons and I think the 18 year old had a tear in his eye. For oneteappot- I used a lightweight fusible interfacing on the back of the shirts and I did the quilt blocks in 12.5 inch squares then I made it like the fun and done quilts.
