I pin 180 degrees from the video. That is my pins go from the body of the project toward the sewing line. I stop the point of the pin just before the sewing line so I don't worry about sewing over pins. Works for me. Of course I have a Pfaff with the dual feed.
I pin the same way. That way I don't have to stop & remove pins and because I have a start/stop button on my Brother, my right index finger is always resting just beside that button for a fast stop. Hardly ever use my right hand to guide fabric and I'm sooooo right handed.
