I think there's too much "waving" for any stitch to work it all in. Since that quilt will be part of your future, I would advise removing the borders and resewing them on so they don't wave. That way you can use your yellow quilting on the border and it will look great. Do it while it's fairly easy to fix, or you'll always be unsatisfied with it.
