I have done several of these rag quilts, and my secret is to clips two rows at a time, sew the outer edge when you have half of the quilt done, then at the end you will just have a single row to clip. It saves the hands and makes you think you are moving along quicker. I have both the spring and the regular rag scissors, and utilize both, the F & P scissors cut through greater thickness' and always take care not to clip your stitches.
