Brother machines are my first choice. Just because it was from Walmart does not automatically make it a bad machine. Make a list of what you need your new machine to do. Compare those needs with the machines on the brother site. A dealer may have a gently used machine that will fit the needs. Have fun shopping and taking machines on test drives. Oh, and make sure you take the kind of fabrics you sew to the dealer. You want to test drive on fabrics that you use, not the stiff cotton buckram they use. Almost any machine can sew that stuff.
