Most binding feet are made for attaching binding to clothing -- for example, to finish armholes in a child's sleeveless dress. For that reason, most of them do not work well for adding quilting binding. This is definitely true of generic binders and also the binders made for older machines (such as my Bernina 1230, which is over 15 years old). I don't know about the more modern machines.
