I think this is a good idea, but I would glue the small pieces to my fingertips. Or at least to the fingertips of the gloves. I have the quilting gloves for FMQ, but sometimes that is not enough.

All you would need would be about 1 square inch on a few fingers. Regular glue should hold them on and you wouldn't sew over them. (Well, maybe sometimes.)
