That reminds me! When you buy fat 16th's..... how do you pre-wash those things?!?! They are so small, they will be a huge mess coming out of the washer and be all frayed to death.

You could just soak them in a basin or sink - swish them about a bit - drain the water - rinse - drain the water - if necessary, one can just lay the fabric on towels and let it dry. Or roll the fabric in a towel to get some of the moisture out so it isn't dripping all over everything. Then just lay the pieces on a dry towel and let them dry.

I would probably put the wet pieces in the washer just for the spin cycle - don't know if your machine will let you do that.
