To move your needle, push the - or + button that is just to the top right of the small screen. (It is right above the - and + button to change your stitch size.) Pushing + one time gives you a .03 Pushing it twice gives you a .05. I have never pushed it more than that, and I use a .03 when I want a scant 1/4 inch. Pushing the - has the needle going the other direction. It will say -.03, etc. I have not used mine that direction.
Let me know if this is enough instruction. I actually took pictures, thinking that would help, and then decided it was unnecessary. There are a lot of things on this machine I don't use. That's a shame, but I am just not into decorative stitching, attaching lace, etc. I am happy with the parts I use.
