After I have finished quilting, I check to see if the edges are straight and corners square. I then run a zigzag around the outer edge. This stops any shifting and makes it an easier job for me to start attaching binding. I have had things shift and found this helps.
Me too, except I put mine through the serger. People have told me this won't work because my binding will not be full. I have not had any issues with baggy binding.
Also, do you have a walking foot? Good to use for applying binding, whether you finish the edges some how or not.
