Quilting is one area in my life I don't make do. I enjoy quilting too much. If any tool is suppose to be sharp and it isn't I toss it. I don't give a rotary blade a second chance to not skip, a seam ripper that I have to tug to cut a thread, scissors that won't cut to the tip of the blade, or a pin that has to be stabbed in fabric. I know when I pick up a tool it will perform like new because it is new.
