Hello from Georgia, and while I lived overseas for years I traveled many places in the UK. Had friends in various places so got to enjoy the out of the "tourist" thingy. I noticed the post within that mentioned having subscribed to the magazine. It is a good one. As to the question of what to start with, my I suggest simple square type blocks, or nine patch type baby quilts,or even just a small piece that can be used as a table top under a lamp,or table mat for tea time? The main thing is to focus on each step as a "growing thing", and not the mistakes or telling yourself "but it isn't good like others. Tell yourself something positive each time you cut, stitch or whatever. The main point is always to have fun and enjoy it, if not, then it is a job/chore.That is a big enemy that destroys..and then one gives up.
