I learned this is not true if you are using a lot of triangles, diamonds, or other intricate piecing sizes. It works great for simple things, but I found out it is better to just make sure your 1/4" is accurate. Or maybe I'm a goob and it's just me. Wouldn't be the first time! :lol:

A lot of new quilters don't realize that different threads can give you a different measurement. The thicker the thread, the more a quilter needs to compensate, sewing a scant quarter inch to achieve the proper measurement. It's one reason I love Aurofil so much. The thread is strong but thin and doesn't require any fussing for the 1/4" seam.
