Basically you cut a 5 inch square of colored fabric, two 3 inch squares of white fabric and two 2 1/2 inch squares of colored fabric for each block. Sew a white square to opposite corners of the 5 inch block, trim, then sew the 2 1/2 inch squares to each of the white blocks and trim. I misread the pattern and cut the small colored blocks 2 inches which just gave me more white fabric in each block. It was fun to make - All the fabric is from my stash. It took almost 4 yards of colored fabric and about 2 1/4 yards of white. to make this size quilt.
