I would measure the length of the quilt and buy that amount. Yes there will be some left on the side because your quilt may say to cut the 5 yards in half and sew them together length wise. That would be about 90" wide by 90" long.
So you would need 2 1/2 yards. But you better go with someone who has quilted for a long time.
