I think that if you free hand simple curves from point to point inside each triangle it would be stunning. Charisma does this a lot on squares and triangles in her quilts. It would be a nice contrast to the straight lines and angles without detracting from the quilt pattern.
I was going to suggest the curves too. You can even do them using the walking foot if you prefer that. You can do one arc one direction and meander to the other side doing the next. When you are done with one line, do the other direction and you will end up with a serpentine set of curves.
