I can tell you there is a difference in freezer paper. The one by C. Jenkins is the one I have used for all my applique for several years now. The biggest difference is that is is desinged by a quilter for quilting. The other is not.
The quilting freezer paper is much heaver (stiffer) which helps it hold it's shape much better, it also has a thicker layer of plastic coating on the back which helps it stay stuck to your fabric much better.
As for the cost I don't think it's too much to spend, it gives me the noticable better result to my finished applique. It comes in two sizes, the smaller one will fit in your printer. It cost me $6.50 for 50 sheets, thats a lot of paper for me, (it will do a ton of applique) I think it is definnetly worth it. I purchased my at our local quilt shop, it can also be ordered on line.
