My $ store has little clear rubber dots for sticking on the back of furniture and picture frames? I stuck some to the plexiglass that sits on top of my counter. It gives a little breathing room and keeps it from sliding.
This is what I was thinking of also. Very inexpensive and if the tablecloth has a drop, it's going to get dirty anyway. I would want a little air for the cloth to breathe.
