I can understand why you are upset, I'd be a basket case and believe me I've done things that have made me walk out of the sewing room vowing never to return, that lasts about an hour. If I were you I'd cut the 1 1/2 down to 1 1/4 and sew away. Prism99's idea definitely deserves some thought, this lady is someone I'd like to have as a neighbor. Don't fret, it will work out and you can look back on it and laugh when you look at the beautiful quilt you are going to make.
