I have heard of this story, but I thought it came from England. I bought a glass ornament that looks like a whole pickle. I usually put it inside the tree somewhere where it's not in plain sight. My sons are not young anymore, so we don't continue with whoever finds it, get's a treat. I still hang it in the tree though.
