Hi, I have a question. I was just wandering about the Joann's and came upon a fat cat ruler

this rules is twelve inches long, but at the eight inch mark it is five inches wide and that is the size of the dear jane triangle, 5 x 8 finished, right? Since I already have a 5 1/2" square, do you think this would work for the dear jane triangles and save me $20 in additional templates?
