interesting point -- quilters use whatever works best -- a lot like the bells and whistles and others prefer a simpler machine -- I keep thinking I would like a machine with needle down, thread cut, and lots of fancy stitches -- then I hear of the woes of computer machines and the maintenance, and as long as my 1990 somewhat basic Singer keeps working, I will not buy another machine -- mine needs no oiling and just a gentle clean-out of the drop-in bobbin area from time to time -- buying a new one would take a lot of research and trying them out and consideration of price vs what I want or need--
