Default spiderweb quilt the beginning (updated see post #57)

I started a new quilt this week and thought it would be fun to document my progress. I started collecting the fabrics last year and washed and folded them and put them away. The cutting started last weekend.

I am actually making two the same, possibly 3 once I see how big they are. I am getting 3 blocks per duplicate strip set. I decided to make things easier for me and ordered the Creative Grids spiderweb ruler. So glad I did. Makes cutting the triangles a breeze and the ruler came with a few different block patterns so it will be put to good use. I am loving spiderweb and definitley see another one of these in my future. So here we go, a sashed spiderweb quilt called African King but I am making queen size so mine will be called African Queen I and II. (love that movie!)

The strip sets all cut and sorted for blocks already

Two sets of finished blocks, I am loving how they look, only 27 more sets to go!

When sewing the two halves together, I took a tip from Edyta Sitar's Laundry basket quilts (Scrappy fireworks book) and started sewing from the center out. It really makes a difference in getting those tiny 8 points to meet up in the center. While not all are perfect some are and the rest are so close I am not going to redo them
Perfect points:
