They're doing that here also. So sad. They go into the thrift stores. I told one of the clerks at the SA store near me that they need to keep the attachments bagged at the counter with anote on machine w/or w/o attachments.

Speaking of missing parts we have a really bad problem up here in the north state that just started about 6 months ago and is progressively worsening. It is to the point now that thrift stores and second hand shops tie or seal the machines and the tables up due to theft of parts. Some people are putting them behind the counters and you have to ask to see what they have. They are stealing everything from badges, bobbin cases, bobbins, thread guides, foot pedals, even the tension assemblies. So sad.
