I would consider putting a shelf all the way around the room - maybe on top of the closet door trim, maybe 18" or 12" from the ceiling, or lower to accommodate what you intend to put up there. You could always use wooden shelf brackets and drill a hole in them in order to hang a quilt from a rod on the bed wall. I have this in my cottage in the living room, and also at my main house in my bedroom to hold my collection of books because I do not have space for a library and we are retired and both readers. In the bedroom I only put them on two walls and you cannot see them from the door. Since you are tall, you could probably reach them. I really use mine and am considering putting more up. If you have any room to move your bookcases apart, you could put a spring tension rod between them, one high and one low to hang quilts tops or UFO's on, for instance. I like my shelves 8" with a plate grove just in case I want to change things later or to hold a picture and other goodies. Be creative and go for it.
