While my current Janome (7700 - which I LOVE!) does not eat my fabric, I have used many machines of varying brands over the years that have all done this. This one little hitch doesn't diminish my love for them! In fact, I still have some of them and they are great machines! So I don't fret about this when it's such an easy fix - I simply use the single hole throatplate, make sure the needle is nice and sharp, and most important, I either hold the beginning threads, or I use a leader piece of fabric. Problem solved, I'm not stressed and it's easy peasy!
