so here it the break from underneath...

here I have "mocked up" the plan. I intend to remove the upper portion (once the screws are unstuck) and take the bed to work. I will clamp the bed into place, drill four holes in a hard steel plate (on each side) and then place that piece on the machine as shown here. Then i will mark and drill those holes, then tap them with threads. Then screw the two plates to the bed and begin the top surface restore. A little QB magic and it just might work...
