I wasn't being a smarta**. I know Steve has the capabilities, I genuinely want to see the repair. I didn't seriously consider bolting plates to it because I made the wrong assumption they would be thru the bed, not where they don't show underneath on the sides where Steve is planning. Also I assumed Steve wouldn't be satisfied with any repairs that left a visible crack. When it comes to structural repairs to cast iron I think of brazing, welding and silver solder for smaller areas first. I'm not a huge fan of epoxies for structural repairs to metal though in this case epoxy with a reinforcing plate out of sight on the bottom might work.
