Stunning quilt..... Here's the thing, to me, this quilt is more about the intricate piecing than the quilting. I think if you had done more, it would have taken away from the design of the quilt. You say your kids would not have appreciated the hand quilting... would they know any better with machine quilting??
They might do what I did and just look at the design of the quilt and not the quilting. I don't like quilts that have every inch quilted, I like a soft feel to the quilt and I think that is what you have here.
