Default School project

One of my local quilting friends has a grandson in the gifted program. She asked him if his class might enjoy making a quilt as one of their programs, and the kids were intrigued. I was tasked with designing the quilt in black and gold for the school colors, and buying the fabric (the guild paid for it). We met with the kids once a week and they teamed up 2 to a machine and sewed the blocks (with LOTS of assistance).

We took them on a field trip to visit a local longarmer, and they each got to try the long arm out and sew how the quilting process takes place.

Yesterday I quilted their quilt for them, and embroidered a label for it. I passed the quilt along to another helper who will bind it, then the kids (they are 12 years of age) are going to auction the quilt off for a good cause.

I let the quilt guild choose the panto for the quilt, it's just a nice generic swirly pattern, although quite dense!

This was a fun project!
