Jim's Gem........this is my favorite Christmas breakfast......must sit 24 hours so one can relax on Christmas morn and ope gifts while this bakes....it is so yummy!
CHEESE STRATA
10 slices white breat (no crusts)
1/3 c soft butter
3 c sharp cheese, grated
8 slightly beaten eggs *
3 c milk *
1 t salt *
1 t dry mustard *
½ T parsley *
pepper *.......................*BEAT TOGETHER
Spread butter on bread, cut each into 4 strips. Butter 2-qt casserole and make alternate layers of bread and cheese. End with cheese layer. Pour egg mixture over bread and cheese layers.
Refrigerate at least 24 hours....)wrap in saren wrap)........
Remove from refrigerator 1 hour before baking.
Bake 40 – 50 minutes @ 350 degrees.
Brocolli, mushrooms or ham may be placed after 1st layer of bread or canned onion rings on top.
I imagine that you could add your choice of green chillies is you prefer....either alone or with anything else.......
