Like many of the others, I lean toward using the border fabric on the back. It's such pretty fabric, and if you use it on the back it certainly won't compete with the front.

But if that's not possible, I'd go with any of the darker blue'ish or purple'ish fabrics. If they're not available, you could use a small scale print in either of those colors (or predominantly black) on the back. Your choice of a binding fabric might be more important than your choice of a backing. But then I'm someone who forgets to look at the back of a quilt.

Also dealing with the Minnesota snow … but also taking time to appreciate its beauty!
