Since I am on a "no buying" tear, I seldom have enough backing for my projects. I often have to piece in another fabric. I think the above suggestion is the best in order to lengthen a "short" piece. Will look just fine and to be honest, who's going to pick up your runner and look at the back and if they do, they'll think you "so clever".....
