I cut width of fabric into 8 inch strips to use all the fabric. Then I took 2 strips and cut 8 square blocks making sure that the lines of the pattern matched. In my opinion, this is like a Bargello, just doesn't seem like it should work till you take the plunge and cut. What I did before making a cut was to take the material to my printer and make 2 copies of the material in color and then cut those paper pictures in 8 inch squares and then do the 2 diagonal cuts. That gives you an idea of what your blocks will look like. That really helped me to make that first cut

I just have to ask for a little more info. Did you cut a strip the length of your fabric, then cut that into squares? Or did you cut across the width of the fabric before making your squares? It seems it would have to be the length to get the pattern to match, but I just cannot wrap my mind around how you did this.
I have been trying to search online for a book about using this type of fabric, and also stripes, but having no luck. I am not good at doing successful searches, for some reason. LOL
