I think this is a wonderful thing for you to make. My 23yo son is Autistic (nonverbal) and I just found the Autism awareness fabric at our Hancock Fabrics, I bought the whole bolt!!!
For one of his Christmas presents I am going to make him a quilt for his bed. I was going to do a Scrappy Happy type of quilt until I found this material now I might do the puzzle pieces using the awareness material for the border fabric and the backing.
