I also think part of being successful is learning where your abilities lie. I'm glad my parents let me sew, not decide I should keep struggling to be an athlete! Beating your head against the wall in repeated failures may be brave and show tenacity, but it could also be telling you that you are barking up the wrong tree, and should try something else!
For some people things do come easy for some of us it is a struggle - an old friend of mine was encouraging me to learn to do batik 30 years ago. He said we all start out not knowing what to do but if you do it enough and often enough you
will get good at it. Of course my results were not the same as a graphic artist's but I was able to learn to do it, have some fun at it and like the results I got. No I did not stick with it - it was messy and expensive - lots of fun though.... HHHHMMMMM I wonder if I still have the tools...........
