Default Retro Potholder/Hot Pad

The red Batik hot pad was gifted to me by my friend, Judy. (She is responsible for getting me interested in piecing and quilting.)

I had never seen one before. I found a 'Retro Potholder Tutorial' by Going Sew Crazy and made the St. Pat.'s motif pad. Many options for quilting and fabric arrangements. I used the lid of a starch can to mark a circle on the scrap piece of fabric to begin the lowest layer of four folded fabric pieces. It looks like that works well for the size. I also alternated the layers with folded sided up on one and folded side down on others. All my fabric pieces were 10 inch circles. Cutting and pressing took the most time.

I love the way Judy put her's together.

While I'm not a fan of MY fabrics, I do like the method and will make more. This one is being donated to our church to auction off.

Thanks for looking.
