The squares are 1.5". I was able to buy alot of the squares pre cut from Ebay. The rest I just cut and cut and cut. Tedious but once I see the blocks coming together I get more motivated.

It is turning out fantastic! I love it! It will be a showpiece (at least for family and friends) once done. You can bet they will ooh and aah over it. And then marvel at how crazy you are to work with such small pieces.
And then some may have the audacity to ask for one.
