JuneBillie, I hope your dad and niece will be ok. When a parent gets in their 80's or so it is hard for them to let go of their independence. My dad was still driving at 89 when he passed away. His reflexes were really slow. There should have been a big dent in the passenger side floor where I would try to help him stop the car.
He only drove a mile or so to the store and church. Since my mom didn't drive he would have been lost without his car.
