For my kids I always do a traditional boil method they love that. But my man, is another story.

So for him I bake a corned beef and this is what I do:
BAKED CORNED BEEF

Removed corned beef brisket from package. DO Not use the added spice package. Take brisket coat in oil, then add onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Place in a foil lined, sprayed pan. Cover tightly with foil. Bake for 2 hours unopened. Take out of oven drain off any oil and juices in pan. Coat with bbq sauce of choice foil cover agan, bake 1 hour. remove foil. Bake 20 minutes or so longer til slightly crispy on the top. You have such a tender piece of meat, tastes like bbq and yet its corned beef so its a win!!! (for those who don't eat corned beef).

Cabbage: slice fine like for shredded cabbage. 1/2 sliced onion. set aside.
in frying pan cook bacon 4 slices diced til crisp. remove bacon set aside for later use.
Cook cabbage, onion, salt and pepper to taste 1/4 cup water, cover cook 15 minutes. drain water.
ADD 1/2 of diced apple to mix cook uncovered til all is tender. Toss in bacon, cook til heated through and serve. Makes a slightly sweet cabbage but not traditional with the corned beef. Also salt and pepper before serving to taste we like a lot so not much help there do know that kids who wont eat cabbage will eat this one. Think its the apples and bacon myself not the cabbage. perhaps it hids it enough??
