I do the same. As I cut my pieces for my project I use my other shapes and cut them until there is nothing left to cut. I also end up using them for borders, pillow cases, etc. Its only when I am in a hurry that I end up with a scrap pile not cut. I do have a rule only one basket full of scrap pieces...and when it cuts full I cut them up into shapes and store them for a scrappy quilt.
