Why don't you do it on top of the stove. I use 2 cups of water to one cup of rice, or you can use chicken brothe instead of water, put the rice in cold. Bring it to a boil and then put lid on and reduce to simmer until the broth is absorbed and the rice will be done. Fluff it with a fork. It'll be a lot quicker than in a crock pot. Now if you use brown rice you'll need to add more broth because it takes a lot longer to cook.
