Why don't you just throw a whole chicken in a pot of water to make your own broth, bring to boil then simmer about 1 hr, take chicken out when cooked, discard bones and skin and put the meat back in the broth with some uncooked rice for another 20 minutes or so? Think chicken soup with extra rice and no veggies and it's way quicker than a slow cooker. You can even make it low fat by pulling the skin off the chicken and trimming visible fat before cooking. You won't have any extra seasonings to irritate your little dogs system, and you can put any extra in the fridge for later.
