I have a friend who went through that. She didn't have to be hospitilized but she was in there and it took them minor surgery and 5 hours to remove the needle. Ouch! She no longer quilts bare footed but the rest of us who know her obviously haven't learned from her because we all quilt in bare (or socked) feet. I think of her often though and use my magnetic wand more then I would have otherwise.
